Married & moving to Britain

1984

In 1984, Fazal came to Britain for the first time, as a student. He lived with his wife's family in Aldgate, East London. He started a course on clinical neurology. Arriving from a different background, Fazal found it difficult to cope with the pressures and demands of the course. He was facing problems such as language change and subject knowledge. Nonetheless, with his determination and patience, he took the challenge and overcame these obstacles and passed. He was probably the most disadvantaged in terms of communication and English knowledge but again he succeeded.

Because of his personality, Fazal did not waste any time after his course and began to look for work. Fortunately he found a job in one of the local Bengali newspapers, Surma, as the advertisement manager. This was another significant part of his life because he accomplished something great.

Within a few weeks, Fazal showed those in charge that he deserved to be in a better position than the advertising manager. The owner, in his best interest, allowed Fazal to make notable changes in the newspaper. Within six months or a year the newspaper was climbing higher from being the fourth best selling Bengali newspaper. The whole image of the paper was changed and because of his contribution, Surma became the best selling Bengali newspaper.
